All X-10 Relay Boards require a TW-523 X-10 interface.
While many people have home automation systems with hardwired outputs, sometimes running wires from your central panel to remote low voltage systems is difficult. Or you may have some wireless X10 controllers and simply want to control some low voltage devices from them (i.e. PalmPads). With an X10 Relay board, you can control between 4 and 16 remote low voltage devices per board via X10. Each relay behaves like an X10 Dry-Contact Universal Module. You can have multiple boards as well since each board can be set to any house code and the 4 or 8 relay versions can respond to different sets of module numbers for a given house code. Simply plug in the power supply and an X10 TW523 interface and you have direct X10 control over your remote low voltage devices. Each relay is a 2A (@30VDC) DPDT relay allowing you to wire devices Normally Open or Closed.

Each relay is controlled with normal X10 ON and OFF commands. You can also configure your X10 Relay board for momentary operation where relays are activated for 1 second by each X10 ON command. Note that some competing relay boards make you choose the mode when you buy! You can’t switch between them. The 8 & 16 X10 Relay boards can be configured to respond to All Units Off commands.
The X-10 Relay Boards also support group X-10 Commands, a feature offered by many HA controllers. If you want to turn off relays A1-A6, you can use a group X-10 command so that the controller sends A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A OFF instead of sending a Ax, A OFF six times. This can greatly reduce HA controller program complexity and also reduces the X-10 traffic in your house. It also allows relays to be turned on or off together instead of one by one as the X-10 commands are received.
The latest firmware, v1.3, contains advanced noise rejection functionality to prevent noise on the TW-523 data and zero cross lines from causing false reads and possible unexpected relay behavior. If you previously purchased an X-10 Relay board with v1.2 or older firmware and are having problems with erratic control of the relays, contact us for a free processor upgrade (you just pay $4.95 shipping).
The X10-Relay boards from Creative Control Concepts are a very cost effective solution for low voltage device control via X10. The CCC X10-Relay boards provide more functionality than comparable commercial products costing significantly more! The 16 Relay version is very flexible. By splitting the relays in half, it allows you to mount them in a variety of enclosures. It can also help to keep the wires orderly. OEM bare board discounts (without cables and power supplies) are available. Contact us for more information.
All X-10 16 Relay Boards come with a 1250mA 12VDC power supply and 7′ cable for connecting to a TW-523.
The X-10 16-Relay Board is actually two boards, each of which measure 4 13/16" W x 3 1/4" L x 0.5" H
