The HCS-II Supervisory Controller has 16 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs built in. However, sometimes it is necessary to add even more digital I/O to your Home Automation System. The BUF-IO simply plugs onto the Supervisory Controller’s expansion headers and adds 24 ±30VDC buffered inputs and 24 high voltage open-collector driver outputs which can handle up to 50VDC loads @ 500mA.
Each set of eight inputs or outputs are accessed via 20 pin headers. These headers also supply a 5VDC reference for use with pull-up resistors if necessary. The high voltage/high current outputs are ideal for driving relays. You can also interface BUF-IO boards to industry standard I/O modules boards which offer opto-isolated industrial control capability for 120VAC at currents up to 3A.
HCS-II users can add up to 2 BUFIO boards to their supervisory controller, allowing for a total of 64 direct inputs and 56 direct outputs (includes SC I/O). This does not include the I/O you can add with network modules. BUFIO and SC based inputs are ideal for getting instant response to changing inputs.
